Department of Vietnam & Indonesia

The Vietnam & Indonesia Department researches the languages and regions of Vietnam and Indonesia, which are home to approximately 400 million people. We focus on the regional languages of ASEAN leaders, Vietnam and Indonesia, while also fostering experts in the region through the study of politics, the economy, society, culture, and history.

Objective

About

The Vietnam & Indonesia Department aims to foster global professionals who are capable of adapting to international society in the 21st century. In order to become experts worthy of global recognition, students must possess a thorough command of the regional language in which they are majoring, as well as theoretical and practical knowledge. Students who graduate from our department will enter society as top professionals, able to demonstrate the full extent of their skills.

Certification & Exams

  • CUFS Vietnamese/Indonesian Translation Certification
  • FLEX Language Proficiency Exam
  • Tour Guide Interpretation Exam
  • Able to take official certification exams
  • Preparation for language proficiency exams for domestic and foreign institutions (national institutions and corporations; able to take foreign affairs police exam for the Vietnam/Indonesia regions)
  • Able to take exams in preparation for civil servant dispatchment

Future Careers

Business
  • Companies expanding to Vietnam or Indonesia, relevant domestic trading companies, cultural industry, airlines, travel agencies (tour interpreter), hotels, foreign affairs police, Vietnamese/Indonesian regional expert, etc.
Entrance into General/Professional Graduate Schools
