Department of Japanese
The Japanese Department helps students improve their Japanese language skills while also instilling widespread knowledge about Japan through courses in Japanese studies, literature, culture, and more. We are pouring our effort into fostering Japanese experts who are knowledgeable in all areas of Japanese society.
Objective
Fostering global leaders as experts on Japan
- Fundamental Knowledge of Japanese-Comprehensive and systematic language training (WLA) that incorporates each of the basic areas of Japanese, including reading, writing, listening and speaking
- Fostering Japanese Experts Knowledgeable in Every Area-Curriculum that incorporates diverse, expert knowledge on Japan as a whole, covering topics such as Japanese society, culture, politics, the economy and regions
- Practical Japanese Education for Use in All Areas of Japanese Society-Practical Japanese language training based on fundamental knowledge of the language
About
Content that meets the diverse needs of the learner
- Provide contents optimized for the learner’s career, such as business, employment, graduate school, translation, study abroad, and instructor
- Practical course operation to obtain various Japanese-related certificates
- Provide contents of lectures used by Waseda University, Hiroshima University in Japan
- Live video lectures/telephone lectures by native speakers in Japanese and special offline lectures
- Language training and explore foreign culture in Beppu University, Hiroshima University, Tohoku Bunkyo College etc.
- Operation of credit exchange program with Tohoku Bunkyo College

- CUFS Japanese Instructor Certification
- Courses to prepare for official language exam certification (JLPT, JPT, JLT, FLEX) & official tour interpretation certification
- CUFS Japanese Video Translation (Media, Screen) Certification

Business Track
- Japanese companies, trading companies, cultural industry, travel agencies, hotels, airlines, public office, etc.
- Entrance into graduate schools or graduate schools of education, after-school Japanese teacher, private academy instructor, etc.
- Entrance into graduate schools of interpretation and translation, interpreter, translator, tour guide, publishing industry, newspaper offices, magazine companies, etc.
